Jazz & Samba Conversations is a show where Sam Martinelli invites a Jazz master to record a concert exploring the Brazilian jazz repertoire and conducts an interview to discuss the connections between jazz and Brazilian music.

 

 

About the guest:

Chuck Redd, a renowned drummer and vibraphonist, who gained early recognition as part of the Charlie Byrd Trio before joining the esteemed Great Guitars with Barney Kessel and Herb Ellis. Throughout his career, he has performed alongside jazz legends like Dizzy Gillespie, Mel Torme, and Tommy Flanagan. Chuck has been honored as "Best Vibist" in New York City's Hot House Jazz Magazine for two consecutive years. His highlights include performing with the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet in Africa and appearing at Carnegie Hall with the Mel Torme Quintet. With over 80 recordings to his credit, Chuck Redd continues to impress audiences worldwide with his musical talent.
